A Tough Job, But Somebody Has To Do It…

16th March 2012

Testing beauty products might not be a dirty job, but it is a challenging one, says Mary Linehan

You may scoff, but I say this with a straight face. For the sake of accuracy and editorial integrity, for example, how do you measure the excellence of one product against another with similar claims? For me the decider in any close call has to come down to comfort factor and the experience of using the product.

Here’s a small selection of what I’m testing now. No doubt you’ll hear more on one or two of them where there are longer term benefits, once I’ve finished each tube, bar and packet…

Malin & Goetz Peppermint Soap: a richly moisturising, creamy and gentle soap for the body. Peppermint is a great hit for feeling cool and cleansed.

Trilogy Cream Facial Cleanser: already a big hit with my skin (sensitive and combination, so a slightly oilier T-zone and drier cheeks). With soothing, calming calendula and chamomile, this is a deep cleanser and the avocado oil means my skin isn’t taut, or flaky.

Rejuvenated Collagen Shots: A mix of responsibly sourced 100% marine collagen and goji berry superfood, blended in a powdered drink form. Add to water or milk and drink for am efficient way to get anti-aging, skin softening and hydrating benefits at collagen- and elastin-boosting cellular level. Take at bedtime when the body is naturally repairing/regenerating for best results. So far, I’m thinking it’s already making a difference – my skin certainly seems softer and more supple.

Nurture Protect Hand Cream: a nice hand cream for everyday; not too greasy, not too scented and it absorbs quickly. Sweet almond oil and vitamin E, green tea and glycerine provide all the skincare and protective properties.
