Beauty Questions

Jemma Kidd answers the beauty questions we're all asking…

What do you carry in your make-up bag?

I love my Jemma Kidd Make Up School Blushwear Crème Cheek Colour. Great for all skin tones, it adds a natural flush of colour to cheeks. I have really fair lashes, so Christian Dior DiorShow Extase Instant Oversize Volume Mascara is perfect for adding volume and defining them. That’s always with me.

Guerlain Paris Mitsouko is my all-time favourite scent, so that, of course. Sarah Chapman Skinesis Overnight Facial leaves my skin feeling rejuvenated, and the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick SPF15 makes my lips feel hydrated and smooth.

What should every woman carry in hers?

I think make-up is all about creating balance and accentuating your own natural beauty. Stick to a few basic essentials – a good, lightweight foundation for flawless skin, a cream blush to add a flush of colour to your cheeks, a mascara to instantly open up your eyes, a crème highlighter for some luminosity and a natural colour lipgloss.

One product you can’t live without?

A good foundation: flawless, radiant skin is key.

The biggest make-up mistake that women make?

Women often use make-up as a mask – but the key thing to remember is that less is more. Use your make-up as a tool to accentuate your features, not as something to hide behind.

Best 2011 tip?

Spring 2011 looks set to be a season of bold, bright colour with eye-popping shades of eyeshadow, from vivid blues and purples to sunshine yellow. Lips are also making a statement – from matte and orange at Marni, to red and glossy at Gucci. And the influence of the ‘70s was prominent on the catwalks this season too, from sun-kissed hippie chic at Roberto Cavalli and Anna Sui, to glitter-fuelled disco divas at Marc Jacobs and Topshop Unique.

And who do you think is beautiful?

Cate Blanchett. I think she has a beauty like no other.
