Glass Art from London Glassblowing

Glorious Glass

28th February 2009

If you’re looking for something distinctive and desirable to add personality and style to your home, then think glass. Free-blown glass.

One of London’s best kept secrets – London Glassblowing – is open to the public for three days at the end of March for its annual Spring Sale of brilliant free-blown glass.

London Glassblowing is one of Europe's leading glassmaking workshops, known particularly for its use of colour, form and texture. The Open Weekend is an opportunity to see talented artists at work – there’ll be glassblowing at the furnace throughout the weekend, so that visitors can watch a ‘gather’ of molten glass being transformed into a thing of beauty – and to pick up some unique pieces created by Peter Layton, plus Layne Rowe, Louis Thompson, Bruce Marks and other talented members of his team. These are highly collectible items, as well as incredible bargains.

The London Glassblowing Spring Open Weekend and Sale takes place on Friday 27, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 March, between 11am and 5pm daily, at 7 The Leathermarket, Weston Street, London SE1 3ER.
Nearest stations: London Bridge / Borough.
