Rickmansworth’s Cinnamon Square wins Best Cakes Award at first
Café Quality Food and Drink Awards 2015
The winners of the first Café Quality Food and Drink Awards have been announced – with Rickmansworth-based Cinnamon Square scooping the award for ‘Best Biscuits & Cakes’ for their Cinnamon Buns.
“We’re passionate about baking,” commented Tricia Barker. “And we’re absolutely delighted to have our Cinnamon Buns recognised by the Café Quality Food Award judges.”
The awards were open to all National, Regional and independent cafés, as well as food producers, wholesalers, contract caterers and food service operators who serve the industry. They are designed to recognise the increasing demand for quality own-label and branded ranges at affordable prices in the retail and catering channels.
Judging took place at the University of West London in August and was based on the credibility, transparency and robustness of the process originated by the Quality Food Awards; now in its 36th year. All entrants receive feedback from the judging panel, and winners and finalists will be able to use the ‘Q’ logo on pack and in consumer advertising.
The awards were organised by Metropolis Business Media, whose Group Publisher Helen Lyons commented: “This has been an inspiring new arena for us and the quality of the entries have been absolutely amazing. We are very proud of all our winners and finalists who have set such high standards in this rapidly growing industry. What sets us apart is the impartiality and rigour of the judging process, which rightly sits at the heart of everything we do – it means people buying products with the ‘Q’ mark know they are choosing the best in the market.”
The Awards ceremony on 14 October took place at an exclusive networking breakfast in London’s Grosvenor House Hotel.
