North London Collegiate School, one of Britain’s leading schools, was founded by the great Victorian education pioneer, Frances Mary Buss. From its inception over 160 years ago, the School has provided an exceptional education for girls from a wide variety of backgrounds. Set in the grounds of the former home of the Duke of Chandos, NLCS provides a first-class academic education in a parkland setting within London. The School’s extensive coach service enables girls aged 4 to 18 from across London and the surrounding counties to attend.

Whilst ensuring academic excellence and intellectual challenge, equal attention is given to supporting the development of the whole person, aiming to inspire confidence, individuality and self-esteem. Consequently, the school is a positive and energetic community where girls are encouraged to take advantage of the abundant opportunities open to them, with around 36 productions, 40 societies and 30 foreign trips offered each year. In this friendly, supportive environment, the girls are highly motivated and develop self-belief, independence of mind and an appetite for learning.

NLCS offers students wide academic choice including six modern languages, Triple Award IGCSE Science at 16, drama, art and music. In the Sixth Form, pupils are offered a choice of A Levels, Pre-U or the IB Diploma. The Sutton Trust 'Degrees of Success' report placed the School first nationally for proportion of students gaining places to highly selective universities, in keeping with the fact that around 40 girls go to Oxbridge and Ivy League schools each year.

NLCS has a highly international perspective that is unique amongst London day schools. The opening of its sister school in South Korea benefits pupils through exchange opportunities and internships and creates an important connection with the ever-growing economies of the Far East. The School also offers student and staff exchanges with schools in the USA, Australia and Germany, as well as outreach opportunities with a school in Zambia.

Central to the ethos of the School is offering bursarial help to as many girls as possible, making available the best education to bright and able pupils irrespective of their backgrounds. NLCS gives individual support to all girls so that they have the confidence to be future leaders. Courtesy, care and consideration for others underpin community life. NLCS is a diverse and tolerant school where cultural difference is acknowledged and celebrated.
