Charlotte House win Haileybury STEM Challenge

Four of the Year Five girls at Charlotte House Prep School were lucky enough to take part in the first ever Haileybury STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Challenge on Thursday 15 June.

Sixteen Prep Schools took part in the Space themed event, which involved four challenges, each covering at least one aspect of STEM. Firstly the girls had to filter some water found on Mars using various materials. The second challenge was to land the Mars Rover in the form of an egg safely to the the ground without cracking. The third challenge was to test which alcohol would provide the most energy for a rocket and the final challenge was to use a Lego Mindstorms robot to rescue astronauts on Mars.

The Charlotte House girls were the overall winners of the Harvey Woodburn trophy.
